GDPR-Notices Overloading You? Where’s Yours?

Any organization that stores customer information needs to know this information or why you’re receiving notices.

The La Crosse Area Chamber is Preparing a Local Training Being Planned.

GDPR is a privacy law known as General Data Protection Regulation. Beginning May 25, 2018, the GDPR unifies data privacy requirements across the European Union (EU). The GDPR imposes new rules on companies, government agencies, non-profits, and other organizations — regardless of size — that offer goods and services to people in the European Union (EU), or that collect and analyze data tied to EU residents. The GDPR applies regardless of where you are located. It protects end users, customers and employees.

Microsoft has a thorough website to help all organizations discover, manage, protects and report breaches with your data. Find it here >>.
Disclaimer: they also soft-sell you the cloud software and Office365 being compliant, but the resources are there regardless of purchasing anything.

    What to think about …

    • Your website may be using customer tracking software that will engage European residents. You must be prepared to inform the website visitor that they are being tracked and give them the option to disallow tracking.
    • If an EU customer asks you to erase their data from your database, what will your procedure be?
    • The penalty for a breach of GDPR is 4% of annual global turnover or €20 million, whichever is greater
