Safer at Home 2

May 11 Update: Drive In Theaters & Small Retail Reopens

  • Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has opened up drive-in theaters (with restrictions) and stand-alone and strip mall stores with an entrance to the outside for up-to-five customers. The following must be observed for retailers:

    • entrances through a mall or interconnected passage must be closed to the public
    • face coverings encouraged
    • social distancing requirements must be observed. If not possible, the the number of in-store occupants must be reduced
    • develop an alternative to outside lines such as waiting in cars for a text message or phone call, scheduling pickups.

4/26: Governor Evers extended the Safer at Home order to 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26 or unless an order comes through earlier.

  • Lt. Governor Barnes said during a call April 16 it is what “they have to do” in the “interest of the people”
  • The Governor has a pact with seven other states to strategize. He has said it does not mean they will re-open at the same time. States in the Northwest have also formed a similar pact.
  • There are slight changes as a result of the new SAH order:
    • Stores <50,000 sq. ft of customer floor space must limit the number of people in the store, including employees to 25% of total occupancy limits.
    • Stores >50,000 sq. ft. can have 4 people/1,000 sq. ft. in the store at any one time (excluding employees) and offer two hours of shopping time for vulnerable populations.
    • All must establish lines to regulate entry taping off standing points six feet apart and use alternatives to lines (ex. staying in cars until texted, phone call or scheduling pick-ups.
    • Schools are closed for the rest of the academic year.
    • Allows for libraries to serve as pickups of library materials, government functions and food pickups
    • Golf courses can open. Read the order for criteria.
    • Basic business functions can be carried out by individuals, one at a time, defined as inventory, facility upkeep, facilitating remote work, delivery and mailings, curb-side pickup without signature
    • Arts & Crafts Stores can conduct curbside pickup.

NOTE: please run through the executive order. Many industries are listed. You know yours best to spot changes.
