Local Medical Facilities Seeking Help
Our local medical facilities are long-range planning for, among many things, supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE). They are asking local companies if they have PPE they are willing to donate or be reimbursed for. Supplies MUST be new and unused. Please pass this information on to others who work in industries that may have these supplies (dental, orthodontics, construction, etc.).
N-95 particulate respirators
Face masks/surgical masks (adult, pediatric)
Gloves (nitrile, vinyl, or butyl)
Eye protection (safety glasses, goggles)
Hand sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol)
Each medical facility has specific guidelines. Please see below:
Gundersen Health System
To donate any of the above and help keep our staff, patients and community as safe as possible, please contact Gundersen Medical Foundation at (608) 775-6600 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
*Note: Homemade masks are being accepted if they meet specific criteria. For directions and a pattern, please contact Gundersen Medical Foundation. (Mask specifications can be found here; how-to video here). To align needs and supply of PPE, PLEASE call Gundersen Medical Foundation first. This will allow staff to track the number of masks being made and who is making them.
Mayo Clinic Health System
Mayo Clinic Health System remains grateful to the many businesses, restaurants and individuals that have offered donations related to COVID-19. We have been humbled by the concern for our staff and our patients.
For businesses wishing to donate new personal protection equipment (PPE) or food, please use the supplies donation link and/or food donation link to share details about your donation. General questions about donations may be directed to LACOMENG@mayo.edu.
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
We ask that supplies be in unopened original containers. Needed items include:
- Hand sanitizer
- Nitrile gloves (especially size M)
- N95 masks
- Face shields
- Surgical gowns and masks
The CDC recently modified their recommendations for cloth masks. Because of this change, we are now accepting cloth mask donations. We ask that donors follow CDC guidance on cloth face coverings for design and material (all cotton is preferred).
Cloth mask drop off sites have been established on our La Crosse and Sparta campuses. Donations may be left in marked bins Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bins are located outdoors along driveways. Donors should not enter buildings.
- La Crosse Campus: Drop off bin is located outside the Family Health Clinic (southwest corner of the campus) off of 10th Street.
- Sparta Campus: Drop off bin is located outside the main west entrance.
We ask that you include a note with your name, the number of masks, and an email or mailing address. Alternately, this information may be shared at LACOMENG@mayo.edu.
For staff safety, food donations must come individually packaged. We are unable to accept foods packaged so that multiple people access a single container, such as pizza. We ask that you allow us to select the unit/department that receives your donation based on which groups have received past donations and the number of meals being offered. It is important that we have at least an 8-hour notice to coordinate.
On behalf of our staff and our patients, we want to thank area businesses, restaurants and community members for their kind support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your generosity has been a source of needed supplies and encouragement.
