Health Dept.: “Stop Requiring Notes”

A Message from La Crosse County Health

The La Crosse County Health Department is currently providing guidance to community members relating to risk associated with exposure to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and travel.

Health Department staff answering travel inquiries are working through a specific algorithm taking into consideration place of travel, symptoms, time symptoms began and guidance by the Centers for Disease Control and WI Dept. of Health Services to determine the risk of the individual for COVID-19 exposure and the need for quarantine or testing.

La Crosse County Health Department has received requests for documentation from employees who are being asked to self-quarantine in their homes for 14 days based on their recent travel.

In light of the current public health emergency with COVID-19 and recommendations for quarantine, the La Crosse County Health Department does not have capacity to provide individual authorization for employees to submit to their worksites. Health Department staff are answering many calls each day from concerned community members, return travelers, community organizations and partners.

We ask that you support your employees who may have questions about COVID-19 exposure.  To help your employees, managers and supervisors, and your worksite maintain the best capacity in this emergency situation, we would suggest that you consult your current employee policies on sick time and work with your staff to resolve this issue.
