Chamber of Commerce urges override of mayor’s La Crosse Center expansion veto

Add the La Crosse Chamber of Commerce to the list of those hoping for the city council to override Mayor Tim Kabat’s veto on a La Crosse Center expansion.
Chamber executive director Vicki Markussen has sent a mass email urging support for an override and pushing for members to spread the word.
The email suggests Kabat’s move defies more sensible action by several boards and committees over the last year and a half to move the center project along.
The email calls the process, “inclusive and exhaustive.”
Markussen says the Chamber believes “the lack of public information about the project is skewing the conversation.”
The Chamber maintains that delays will make the eventual La Crosse Center more costly in the long run and “jeaopardizes the health of downtown La Crosse.”
The Chamber, Downtown Mainstreet, Explore La Crosse, and the 7 Rivers Alliance have put together a website that identifies positives of the La Crosse Center project. (Click here to view site).
