The Golf Outing will feature a 7:30 a.m. & a
1:00 p.m.,18 hole, best ball tournament with shotgun starts.

The number of golfers is limited to the first 72 golfers to register for the morning flight & to the first 144 golfers to register for the afternoon flight.

(In order to give all members the best opportunity to participate in the afternoon flight, no more than 2 foursomes per business allowed until Friday, June 14.)

Young Professionals of the Coulee Region

Are you interested in a Young Professionals Group? The Young Professionals of the Coulee Region is a personal and professional development program of the La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce that encourages young business people to interact socially, exchange ideas, share common interests, learn more about the area’s business community and engage in the community’s future.

Events range from professional development seminars to community/volunteer events to social/networking events. There is no requirement on the number of events you need to attend to be a member. There are NO meetings, only events. So, instead of being required to attend a meeting each month, you get to pick and choose which events you want to participate in and will benefit you.

We are looking for participants for the 2013-2014 Chamber Youth Leadership Program! The Youth Leadership Program is designed for students who will be Juniors during the 2013-2014 school year. This allows participants to put their skills to work serving their schools and communities during their senior year. It is very important for students to determine if they will have the time to commit to the program. An important trait of being a leader is personal accountability. If you are selected for the Youth Leadership Program, you will be expected to be on time and attend all sessions through the program year. However, we realize that illness and other circumstances may cause an absence. Consecutive absences or non-excused absences will not be tolerated and may result in dismissal from the program.

Mike Kiefer, Jail Program Coordinator for the County of La Crosse, and Jane Klekamp, Manager of Chemical Health and Justice Sanctions for the County of La Crosse, will present the historical perspective of criminal justice and the role of the Criminal Justice Management Council, use of evidence based practice in La Crosse County, and population trends. They will also provide an overview of the current programs and services in the La Crosse County jail and in the community.

Jane Klekamp has been the manager of Chemical Health and Justice Sanctions for 17 years, contributing to the development of the treatment courts, Ophelia’s House, and the Transition from Jail to Community Initiative. Klekamp has a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and a master’s degree in social work from University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Mike Kiefer has been working for the Sheriff’s Department for five and a half years as the first Jail Program Coordinator in La Crosse County. Prior to that he worked in various settings in the Mental Health field, the most recent was 15 years at Mayo working on the locked psychiatric unit. Kiefer graduated from the University of Wisconsin-
La Crosse with an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology and went on to Winona State University where he received a Post Baccalaureate in Social Work and Masters in Community Counseling.

PRESS RELEASE – ANNUAL BANQUET 2013

The La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 145^th Annual Recognition Dinner on Monday, March 4, in South Hall A & B of the La Crosse Center. The social hour will begin at 5:15 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m., and the program to follow.

During the program, the Chamber will present the following awards: Chamber Leadership Award, Chamber Volunteer of the Year Award, Regional Progress Award and the Chair’s Community Service Award.

Harry Dahl of Dahl Automotive will be awarded the Chair’s Community Service Award. Dahl will be honored for his commitment to many causes in La Crosse including The La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Boy Scouts of America and the University Wisconsin – La Crosse. He has built Dahl Automotive into a major La Crosse automotive dealer representing numerous automotive brands.

Weber Center for the Performing Arts will be awarded the Chamber’s Regional Progress Award. The Weber Center is a joint project of the La Crosse Community Theatre and Viterbo University and is the outcome of cooperative efforts of both organizations for the benefit of the entire region. The Center opened in 2013, but has been in the works for years as the planning and construction took shape on the Mississippi Riverfront.

Joan Mueller of Mayo Clinic Health System will be awarded the Chamber’s Leadership Award. Mueller is a past Chair of the Chamber Board of Directors and has contributed to the Chamber in various capacities for many years. She is currently chair of the Chamber Government Action Committee, has co-chaired the Oktoberfest in the Capitol event and has been a participant in all 8 annual visits to Washington DC as part of contingent of Chamber members taking issues to Washington.

Bob Borchardt will be presented with the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year Award. Borchardt is a volunteer for the Chamber’s SCORE program which offers business advice to those seeking to start a business. Borchardt has facilitated the Saturday morning SCORE workshops for many years, giving a Saturday morning a month to the effort.

Dyanne Brudos of US Bank National Association will be presented with the Past Chair Award for 2012 by this year’s Chair of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, Dave Booth of WXOW.

Young Professionals Group Kicked Off on 2-27-13

The Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Group kicked things off on Wednesday, February 27 at noon at Jade Café located at 325 West Avenue N., La Crosse. The attendees had lunch and participated in “speed networking”, where they were grouped in 4′s and after 12 minutes, each attendee rotated to network with a new group of Young Professionals.

This was a fresh new way to network and you were able to meet several new people at a time. “Speed networking” is just one of the ways the Young Professionals group is different.
